Perplexity is useful when you need external sources, definitions from official pages, recent context or links to read more. It is better for “where can I verify this?” questions.
Essays, sources and citations
Perplexity can help find sources, but you should read the sources yourself. Do not cite Perplexity or ChatGPT as if they were the original evidence. Cite the paper, book, article, report or official page you actually used.
ChatGPT can help create an outline, improve clarity, explain feedback or check whether an argument is coherent. It should not invent citations or replace your own thinking.
Academic integrity
Schools and universities have different AI policies. Some allow AI for brainstorming and grammar help. Some forbid generated writing. Some require disclosure. Students should check the exact policy before using any AI tool.
A safe study workflow is: ask for explanation, read original material, write your own answer, then use AI to check clarity or ask practice questions.
